Tony as he is better known to his mum and family was enjoying a typical friday night out with two fellow sailors and a friend, after visiting various bars around concept square Tony and his friends choose Walkabout to finish what would of been a good night out. All was well as you can see from the inserted pictures from that night until an unknown guy struck Tony with a unprovoked and unexpected punch to the jaw. This punch was so powerful Tony died 11 days later in hospital.

DCI Paul Richardson, leading the investigation, said: "We're particularly keen to speak to two men who phoned the major incident room to say they had seen what happened, then hung up."

The man who punched Mr Cavanagh was white, muscular with short, brown hair and wore a white T-shirt and hooded top.

Drunken thuggery claims a second life
IC Liverpool Report

"ROYAL Navy sailor Anthony Cavanagh became the second person to die after an unprovoked attack at a Liverpool city centre bar within the space of just one week.
His parents were too devastated to speak last night after the "well-loved" sailor,, who had his 22nd birthday on Tuesday, died at the Walton Neurological Centre.
Police have now launched a murder investigation a week after the Able Seaman, from north Liverpool, was attacked while he was on shore leave as he left the Walkabout Bar, off Concert Square".
